Same-Day Care
Q & A
What is same-day care?
Same-day care is an opportunity to see a healthcare provider the day your need arises by simply calling up or booking online to see a healthcare provider at any of the NY Family Docs offices.
We believe you should have quick, straightforward access to the care you need — when you need it. We know that illnesses and injuries do not occur on a schedule. And we know that, sometimes, you don’t even feel well enough to come into our offices. That’s why we also offer TeleHealth visits where your healthcare provider will speak with you over the telephone and may be able to treat some problems without the need for an office visit.
Same-day care gives you access to fast treatment and is designed to serve you when you need immediate medical care when your illness or a minor injury isn’t life-threatening.
However, if you’re dealing with a life-threatening emergency like chest pain, shortness of breath, a broken bone, or a bad laceration, call 911 or go to a hospital emergency room rather than scheduling an appointment.
How does same-day care work?
NY Family Docs strives to see every patient as quickly as possible. When you call, our friendly receptionists will let you know what the current schedule looks like and how quickly you’ll likely be able to get in with a healthcare provider. Same-day appointments do come with options to be seen at other locations or via TeleHealth visits if your location is not available. We work hard to get you in with someone as quickly as possible.
Billing for same-day care is like any other doctor’s visit and deductibles and co-pays will apply if required by your health plan. We accept most major insurance providers, self-pay, Medicaid and Medicare.
What kinds of treatments are available with same-day care?
We don’t limit treatment just because you’re a same-day appointment. You still get access to our healthcare providers who have years of experience and who provide personalized treatment and dedicated care.
Some of the conditions NY Family Docs most commonly treat for same-day appointments include:
Sprains and strains
Headaches
Sore throat
Ear infections
Urinary tract infections
Asthma attacks
Allergic reactions
Minor cuts
Mild burns
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Pneumonia
Pink eye
STDs
Same-day care is available so you can get the treatment you need for non-emergency medical conditions the same day they arise. We want you to know that we’re available whenever you need health care.
